3. Wait for the operating system to complete the shutdown process. For Digital UNIX or
OpenVMS, the SRM console prompt (>>>) is displayed. Windows NT displays a
window indicating it is safe to turn off or restart the system.
4. Do not turn off power to your system and peripherals until the shutdown sequence
completes.

Computer Security

Use the security lock and passwords to protect your Digital AlphaStation 500 Series
system.

Security Lock

To avoid theft of internal components, your Digital AlphaStation 500 Series system comes
with a security key lock, which is located on the back of your system unit. When this lock
is in the locked position, no one else can open the system box. Store the key in a safe
place.

Passwords

You can set your system for screen saver and pause screen passwords. See your operating
system documentation for more information on the availability and use of these options.

Posture and Work Habits

If you use poor posture while you work or if your equipment is poorly positioned, personal

From the Program Manager File menu, choose Shutdown.
