Installing System Options

Top Cover/Left Side Panel

To gain access to the inside of the AlphaStation 500 Series system unit, remove the top
cover, and the left side panel.

Removing the Top Cover and Left Side Panel

To remove the top cover and left side panel, follow this procedure:
1. Turn off your system and all external peripheral devices.
2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
3. Wait at least 15 seconds, to allow time for the power supply capacitors to discharge
safely.
4. Unlock the top cover by turning the key counter clockwise, as shown in Figure 3-2.
