Preloaded Operating System Software

Your AlphaStation 500 Series system comes with one of the following operating systems
preloaded:

Digital UNIX

•

OpenVMS

Windows NT is available but is not preloaded on your AlphaStation 500 Series
system.

Depending on how the environment variables are set, your system shows one of the
operating system-specific displays described next, after the self tests complete
successfully.
Digital UNIX
If you are using the Digital UNIX operating system, either you see a >>> prompt (if
auto_action is set to Halt) or the system proceeds to boot Digital UNIX (if auto_action is
set to Boot) when you power on your system.

OpenVMS
If you are using the OpenVMS operating system, either you see a >>> prompt (if
auto_action is set to Halt) or the system proceeds to boot OpenVMS (if auto_action is set
to Boot) when you power on your system.
