Section 17. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

SYMPTOM
1. Low Battery message on
keypad or battery trouble
LED lit.
2. Nuisance or phantom alarm.
3. "AC POWER" light off.
4. "CHECK" and zone number
1–5 is displayed.
SYMPTOM
2. Digital control message not
being re ceived.
3. Ademco 5110XM doesn't re-
spond to keystrokes on
keypad.
SYMPTOM
1. Detector alarms, no ap-
parent reason.
S Y S T E M
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1a. "Bat" or "System Low Bat"
2a. Sensors not properly installed, wired, or
monitored.
3a. Interrupted AC power supply.
4a. Control has sensed an open circuit on one
or more zones
C O N T R O L
POSSIBLE CAUSE
2a. Ademco 5110XM in FIRE WALK TEST
mode.
2b. Telephone connection not secure.
2c. Digital control malfunctioning.
2d. Telephone number in program needs
prefix or access code.
2e. Telephone call to central monitoring
station requires operator assistance.
3a. "CC" or "MODEM COMM" displayed.
3b. "d1" or "System Busy" displayed.
3c. Keypad address setting incorrect.
S M O K E D E T E C T O R
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1a. Dust, dirt in sensing chamber.
1b. Improper location.
1c. Unit malfunctioning.

REMEDY
1a. System battery is low or missing.
2a. Check installation to see if in accor dance
with established procedure.
3a. Check transformer connection and Power
line cir cuit breaker.
4a. Check the sensor or the loop wiring in
the affected zone. The system will not
display "System Normal" until this
condition is corrected (or the affected
zone is bypassed).
REMEDY
2a. Remove from TEST mode.
2b. Check all connections.
2c. Check with a different Ademco 5110XM.
2d. Program prefix or access code into the
Ademco 5110XM.
2e. Ademco 5110XM system cannot work in
this situa tion.
3a. System is in communication with down -
loader at central station. Wait until
down load session is finished.
3b. System has just been powered and is in
its one minute initialization. To bypass
this time, press '#' + '0'.
3c. Keypads must be set for address 31 (non -
addressable mode).
REMEDY
1a. Clean unit's sensing chamber with
vacuum cleaner per unit's instructions.
1b. See unit's instructions for locations to
avoid. Relocate as necessary.
1c. Replace detector.
