Removing the Front Fork

In order to remove the front fork follow these procedures.
1.
Park the vehicle on a clean level surface.
2.
Turn the key off and place the forward/reverse switch in the neutral
position.
3.
Block the rear wheels to prevent movement.
4.
Loosen the spindle mounting nut on the tiller and remove it from the
steering shaft.
5.
Remove the woodruff key from its slot on the steering shaft.
5.
Remove the locknut located from the top of the steering shaft.
6.
Raise the front of the vehicle, allowing the steering shaft to slide
through the cowl.
NOTE : The fork should be supported to prevent it from putting
undue pressure on the lower oil seal, bearing, and bearing
race. This is also done to prevent the fork from falling once it
is removed from the cowl and damaging these parts.
Always use a lifting strap, hoist and jack stands of adequate
capacity to lift and support the vehicle. Failure to use lifting and
supporting devices of rated load capacity to support the vehicle
may result in serious injury and property damage.
7.
Support the front fork to prevent it from falling as the front of the
vehicle is raised.
8.
Remove the fork, front axle, and springs.
9.
Replace seals, bearings, and races as required.
10. Install the new fork in reverse order.
