Adjusting Belt Tension

Whenever the belts are removed from the pulleys or as the belts become worn, the
belt tension must be readjusted. In order to adjust the belt tension, follow these
procedures:
1.
Check the alignment of the pulleys. The face of the pulleys should be
in line with each other.
2.
Loosen the lock nut on the belt adjusting bolt.
3.
Turn the adjusting bolt in or out as needed to tension the belts
properly.
NOTE: There should be a 1/4" deflection in the belts at the
mid point between the two pulleys.
4.
Check the deflection in the belts, then rotate the pulleys one full
turn. Check the deflection again.
5.
If the deflection is correct, tighten the lock nut on the motor adjusting
bolt. If the deflection is not correct, repeat steps 2 through 4 again.
