No or insufficient refrigeration

8.3.1 Changing the battery

The battery is exchanged during routine maintenance.
If the customer has decided against a maintenance contract, the battery must be replaced after
7 years at the latest. All settings (time, defrost time, section thickness etc.) are lost when the
instrument is switched off.
There is no danger for the instrument. However, the customer must re-enter the setting values
after changing the battery.

Cause
- Compressor defective.
- Leak in the cooling system.
- Inappropriate site conditions.
- Ventilation grilles of the condens-
er dirty.
- Friction between the slot cover
and the microtome housing.
- UV radiation provided by UV tube
no longer sufficient for disinfec-
tion.

Troubleshooting
Remedy
- Call technical service.
- Call technical service.
- Check Installation site re-
quirements
(item 4.1)
- Clean air inlet opening.
- Apply cryostat oil to the slit
cover and distribute it by
moving the handwheel or
using a clean cloth.
- Replace UV tube following
the manufacturer's instruc-
tions.
