If the vehicle was previously locked with the
central locking switch
and the SmartKey is set to factory settings,

the complete vehicle is unlocked when a
front door is opened from the inside
and the SmartKey is set to selective
R
settings, only the front door opened from
the inside is unlocked
If the vehicle has been locked centrally with
the SmartKey, it will not unlock using the
central unlocking switch.
Opening the tailgate
! The tailgate swings up and beyond the
rear bumper when opening. Therefore,
make sure there is sufficient clearance
above and behind the vehicle.
You can open the tailgate when the vehicle is
stationary.
A minimum height clearance of 6.53 ft
(1.99 m) is required to open the tailgate.

Press button % on the SmartKey to
unlock the vehicle.

Pull on handle :.

Lift the tailgate.

Locking and unlocking

Do not leave the SmartKey in the open cargo
compartment. You may lock yourself out.
If the vehicle was previously locked centrally
with the SmartKey, the tailgate will lock
automatically when closed. All turn signal
lamps flash three times to confirm locking.

Lower the tailgate by pulling firmly on
handle :.

Close tailgate with hands placed flat on the
tailgate.
