[5] DIFFERENTIAL GEAR

(1) Spiral Bevel Pinion Shaft

IMPORTANT
• When reassembling spiral bevel pinion shaft and differential assembly, be sure to adjust the following.
• Turning torque of spiral bevel pinion shaft only.
• Backlash and tooth contact between spiral bevel pinion shaft and spiral bevel gear.
Turning Torque of Spiral Bevel Pinion Shaft Only
1. Reassemble the spiral bevel pinion shaft and tighten the staking
nut (1) with locking wrench and turning wrench.
2. After tapping the bevel pinion shaft to the front and rear,
retighten the staking nut (1) to specified torque.
3. Measure the turning torque of spiral bevel pinion shaft.
4. If the measurement is not within the factory specifications,
adjust the tightening torque of staking nut (1).
