(3) 1st Shaft
1st Shaft Assembly
1. Remove the bearing (1).
2. Draw out the 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th synchronizer unit and gears.
3. Remove the bearing (26) and external circlip (25).
4. Draw out the 5th synchronizer unit and gears.
(When reassembling)
• Be sure to assemble the synchronizer unit, set the teeth (28) on
the shifter (11) to the key (10) as shown in the figure.
• The directionality of inner race (17) and (21).
–
The inner race (17) for 32T gear (4th speed) (18) turn the
without spline side "E" to the rearward "R".
–
The inner race (21) for 37T gear (5th speed) (22) turn the
without spline side "E" to the forward "F".
• The directionality of coupling.
–
The coupling for 1-2 speed (9), turn the longer boss side "D"
to the rearward "R".
The coupling for 3-4 speed (16), turn the longer boss side
"D" to the forward "F".
–
The coupling for 5th speed (23), turn the shift end side "G"
to the rearward "R".
• Apply transmission fluid to synchronizer unit.
• Apply molybdenum disulfide (Three Bond 1901 or equivalent) to
the inner race (3), (12), (17) and (21).
• Face the grooved side of thrust collar (2) and (19) to the gear
side.
• Replace the external circlip (25) with new one.
