Do not use canned air to clean the UDDS sensor
CAUTION:
transmitter and receiver as this could blow debris into
difficult to clean areas of the scanner.
A dirty transmitter or receiver can result in "false
paper jam" errors. Use the following procedure to
clean the transmitter and receiver.
1.
Obtain an "ear syringe" or "nasal aspirator" from a
local drug store.
2.
Open the scanner cover as described in "Opening and
Closing the Scanner Cover" on page 107.
3.
Locate the ultrasonic multi-feed detector transmitter
and receiver. The receiver in the cover is shown below.
The transmitter is housed in the base of the scanner
directly opposite the receiver when closed.
4.
Use the ear syringe or nasal aspirator to blow (with air
only) any debris from the transmitter and receiver
areas.

5.
Lower the scanner cover and press it down firmly
until both sides latch.
