BREADCRUMBS (PLAIN AND SEASONED)

There is no need to buy breadcrumbs when you can make them fresh

slices white bread
in your Cuisinart
Makes about 2 cups
1. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Arrange the bread on a sheet
tray in a single layer. Bake until golden in color and
completely dried out, about 20 minutes.
2. When the bread is dried out, break into large pieces
and put into the Large Work Bowl fitted with the
Large Chopping Blade. Pulse to break up, about 10
times. Process on High until fine and even in consis-
tency, about 1 minute. Store in an airtight container
until ready to use.
TIP: Making breadcrumbs is a great use for stale bread.
Just break up and process as instructed above without
baking first.
Note: For seasoned breadcrumbs, add 1/4 teaspoon
each dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder
and ground onion flakes to the work bowl with the
dried-out bread.
