CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Check the engine oil level on a cold engine.
TIP
If the engine was started before the oil level was
checked, be sure to warm up the engine suffi-
ciently, and then wait at least 10 minutes until
the oil settles for an accurate reading.
3. Remove:
• Passenger seat cushion
Refer to "GENERAL CHASSIS (2)" on page
4-3.
• Passenger seat belt buckle rubber cover
Refer to "GENERAL CHASSIS (3)" on page
4-6.
4. Check:
• Engine oil level
The engine oil level should be between the
minimum level mark "a" and maximum level
mark "b".
Below the minimum level mark → Add the
recommended engine oil to the proper level.
TIP
With the arrow mark "c" pointing in the direction
shown, insert the dipstick completely into the oil
filler hole, and then remove it again to check the
oil level.

NOTICE
• Engine oil also lubricates the clutch and the
wrong oil types or additives could cause
clutch slippage. Therefore, do not add any
chemical additives or use engine oils with a
grade of "CD" or higher and do not use oils
labeled "ENERGY CONSERVING II".
• Do not allow foreign materials to enter the
crankcase.
5. Check the engine oil level again.

Be sure the engine oil is at the correct level,
otherwise engine damage may result.
6. Install:
• Passenger seat belt buckle rubber cover
• Passenger seat cushion
