0E At the start of
switchback, the
switchback paper
detection sensor is
already ON.
(The "Paper Jam"
appears on the LCD.)
0F In bottom-face printing,
the switchback paper
detection sensor does not
go OFF even after the
recording paper is fed for
the specified period
(independent of the
registration sensor or DX
cam switch).
(The "Paper Jam"
appears on the LCD.)
Probable Cause
Too much ink used for top-
face printing had made the
paper curly or wavy so that
switchbacking the paper
caused a paper jam in the
switchback paper path.
Switchback paper detection
sensor defective
PF encoder/registration
sensor harness unit defective
Main PCB defective
Misdetection of the
recording paper length
Switchbacked paper has
dragged along a new sheet of
paper loaded in the DX paper
tray #1 through the
switchback paper path.
Bank ASSY in the DX paper
tray #1 deformed
Switchback paper detection
sensor defective
Main PCB defective

Solution
Pull out the DX paper tray #1,
open the DX cover, and
remove the paper jammed near
the switchback paper detection
sensor.
Open the outer back cover and
the inner back cover DX, and
remove the jammed paper.
Open the scanner cover and
remove the jammed paper.
Correct the connection of the
switchback paper detection
sensor harness to the main
PCB.
Replace the duplex unit.
Replace the harness unit.
Replace the main PCB.
Pull out the DX paper tray #1,
open the DX cover, and
remove the jammed paper.
Open the outer back cover and
the inner back cover DX, and
remove the jammed paper.
Open the scanner cover and
remove the jammed paper.
Reload paper.
Replace the base pads and tray
flap pads in the DX paper tray
#1.
Replace the bank ASSY in the
DX paper tray #1.
Correct the connection of the
switchback paper detection
sensor harness to the main
PCB.
Replace the duplex unit.
Replace the main PCB.
