Print Quality Problems (continued)

Printing not aligned on
label.
Labels are not stopping
at the right point for
removal.
Print quality is poor.

Possible Causes
Printer is misfeeding media.
You have incorrectly set the
label rest point command.
You have set the printer for
continuous label stock.
Incorrect media sensitivity
setting.
The darkness of label print is too
light or too dark.
Print speed exceeds the
capability of the media.
Printhead, platen roller, or label
path is dirty.
Uneven print contrast (density).
You are using incorrect label or
ribbon stock to print labels.
Ribbon wrinkling.
Troubleshooting
Solution
Make sure you have correctly installed the
media. For help, see "Loading Roll Media
for Straight-Through Printing" in Chapter
2.
Adjust the label rest point. Use PrintSet or
see Chapter 6, "IPL Commands," for more
information.
Set the printer to thermal transfer or direct
thermal label stock. For help, see "Loading
Roll Media for Straight-Through Printing"
in Chapter 2.
Change sensitivity setting to match the
type of media you are using. If you set the
sensitivity correctly, try changing the dark
adjust command. Use PrintSet or Chapter
6, "IPL Commands," to change the
settings.
Adjust the darkness adjust control. See
"Adjusting the Print Darkness" in
Chapter 7.
Lower your print speed or use Intermec
media recommended for your print speed.
Clean printhead, platen roller, and label
path as described in Chapter 3,
"Maintaining the Printer."
Adjust the bias adjust screw. See
"Correcting Uneven Print Quality" in
Chapter 7.
Use only Intermec label and ribbon stock
to ensure superior print quality and
product performance.
Set the bias adjust screw. See "Correcting
Uneven Print Quality" in Chapter 7.
