a. Make sure an insulated portion of each posi-
tive brush wire (Figure 35) touches the brush
holder.
b. If bare wire from the positive brush touches
the brush holder, disassemble the brush
holder assembly and reassemble it properly.
7. Make sure the O-ring is installed on the terminal
bolt, and install the brush holder assembly into the
armature housing (Figure 36).
8. Install the washer and shims (Figure 31) onto
the terminal post in the same order noted during re-
moval, and install the nut (Figure 30).
9. Install each brush into its holder as follows:
a. Cut a cable tie into four 1.5 in. strips.
b. Pull back the brush spring, and insert a strip
between the brush holder and the spring.
c. Press the brush into the holder. See Figure
37. Each cable tie will hold the spring away
from the brush during armature installation.
10. Insert the armature into the housing (Figure
38) until the armature bottoms against the brush
holder. Exercise caution so the commutator (Figure
29) is not damaged.
11. Slip the cable tie (Figure 39) from each brush
holder. The springs can now press the brushes
against the commutator.
12. Install the shims (A, Figure 28) onto the arma-
ture shaft in the same order noted during removal.
13. Lubricate a new O-ring (B, Figure 28) with
lithium soap grease and install it onto the end of the
armature housing.
14. Install the rear end cap (A, Figure 27) over the
brush holder and seat it on the armature housing.
Make sure the index mark on the end cap aligns with
the mark on the armature housing (B, Figure 27).
15. Install the washers onto the armature shaft in
the same order noted during removal.
