a. Remove the mounting bolts (A, Figure 45),
and pull the clutch adjuster cover (B) from the
alternator cover.
b. Disconnect the clutch cable (Figure 46) from
the clutch lever.
c. Pull the clutch cable end from the port in the
alternator cover.
4. Remove any cable ties that secure the clutch ca-
ble to the motorcycle.
5. Release the clutch cable from the AIS/clutch ca-
ble bracket on the alternator cover.
NOTE
Before removing the cable, make a
drawing of the cable routing through
the frame. It is very easy to forget how
it was routed once it has been re
moved. The new cable must be re
routed along the same path as the old
cable. Avoid any sharp turns.
6. Pull the clutch cable out from behind the steering
head area, through the retaining loop (Figure 47)
on the left side of the frame and from any clips on
the frame.
7. Remove the cable and replace it with a new ca-
ble.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
a. Route the new cable along the same path as
the old.
b. Secure the new cable to the motorcycle at the
same points noted during removal.
c. Adjust the clutch cable free play as described
in Chapter Three.
