    How to Use This Manual The descriptions in this manual are presented using the following general format. Making Copies of Facing Pages in a Book onto Two Separate Copy Sheets in Main heading One Step (TWO-PAGE SEPARATION) This feature enables you to copy facing pages in a book or magazine on separate sheets of copy paper in one step.

If the machine makes strange noises, or emits smoke, heat or unusual smells, immediately turn OFF the main power switch and unplug the power plug from the outlet.

Do not touch the Finisher while making copies, as this may result in personal injury. Turn OFF the power switch for safety when the machine will not be used for a long period of time such as overnight.

Failure to observe these items may result in a fire or electrical shock. Clean the machine using a firmly wrung-out cloth dampened with a mild cleansing detergent.

    Installation Precautions Avoid installing the machine in the following locations. Avoid locations which are subject to low temperatures and low humidity, or high temperatures and high humidity. For example, avoid installing the machine near water faucet, hot water heaters, humidifiers, air conditioners, heaters and stoves. Avoid installing the machine in the direct sunlight.

The method that you select will depend on the size and type of the original that you are using, and the copy settings that you have programmed. However, if you set the Entire Image mode, the copied image is automatically reduced slightly based on the copy paper size and copy image size.

  • Page 61 Changing the Copy Ratio (Enlarging/Reducing Originals) Copy Ratio Specification and Required Paper Sizes and Quantities When making an enlarged copy with a specified copy ratio, the size of the copy paper and the number of sheets required for the resulting copy depend on the copy ratio that was specified. The following table shows typical copy ratios and the size and number of sheets of copy paper required.

    Interrupting the Current Copy Job to Make Priority Copies (INTERRUPT MODE) The Interrupt mode enables you to stop the current copy job long enough to make other priority copies. This mode comes in useful when making a rush copy during a continuous copy job. MEMO When using the lnterrupt mode, place your originals on the platen glass.

    Finisher-E1 Replacing the Staple Case in the Stapler Unit When the Finisher runs out of staples, the staple case must be replaced. The message on the left will appear in the touch panel display. Follow the procedure described below to replace the staple case. Move the Finisher away from the machine holding the section indicated in the figure on the left.
