PostScript Printer Description. A file that gives the client's print
driver information about the PostScript printer.

The software that determines the format of a document.
Within the system software, various preferences can be set for
the controller such as, language and font preferences.
Software that is resident on the client workstation used to create
print documents.
The application or machine in the distributed system that
assembles a service request and submits the request to the
server.
A workstation used to create print jobs (documents) and submit
them to the controller.
Client software used to create PDL files.
Position of the system disk memory (up to 4 MB) received for
temporary storage of formatted pages for printing. Pages are
retained until they are delivered to the output tray.
An object that represents a request to print one or more
documents together on a logical printer.
A set of options available for controlling the processing of a print
job. Print options include simplex or duplex printing, media
selection, collating, stitching, and so on. Print options can be
sent to the controller as a part of the job, providing automatic job
processing.
A queue that temporarily stores print jobs that have been sent
over the network.
A print service accepts printing requests and performs the
indicated actions.
Output device that produces hardcopy printouts. Also referred to
as the IOT.
