A communications product offered by Digital Equipment
Corporation.
To break down into component parts, such as when Interpress
breaks down a Font Interchange Standard (FIS) master to
compile font information.
A controller subsystem that generates the bitmap image that is
based on the PDL file.
A process within Print Service that allows, through the use of
various applications and options, saving of files on the controller
as TIFF image files.
A component of the Printer. The decurler removes the excess
curl in the paper.
Value assigned to a field by the system. Default fields may be
used for such items as document formats, menu selections, input
fields, font selection, and paper or image size. The default value
of a field may be changed.
Portion of alphabetic character that extends below the baseline.

Basic display screen of the PC UI.
Any piece of equipment that accepts PDL jobs and provides
output resulting from those jobs. A laser printer capable of
interpreting PDL and outputting text and images is a device.
Equivalent terms for "device" in this supplement are "printer,"
"printing device," "output device," and "raster device."
A feature associated with a particular model of device. Device
dependent features result in output appearance varying from one
printing device to another.
The programs that are used to diagnose problems within the
system or to help service personnel pinpoint the source of such
problems.
To express or represent data in digital (binary) form so that it can
be processed electronically.
Logical grouping of files and subdirectories that are identified by
name.
Device that can read or write magnetic media.
Viewing device (monitor) that visually communicates system
warnings, status, and error messages and reflects operator
interaction with the system on a display.
The process in electronic printing that uses dot patterns to
simulate shades of gray or tones of a color.
