SECTION 8—SEAT (WHEELCHAIRS BUILT BEFORE 4/5/
2010)
After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching hardware is
tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage may occur.
NOTE: For wheelchairs built after 4/5/2010, refer to Section 9.Remove the Seat Pan
Wider Seat Pans
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 8.1.
NOTE: Wider seat pans will require the seat pan to be secured to each end of the crossbrace assembly. The mounting screws that secure 
the crossbrace tube to the rear seat pan mounting brackets will also secure the seat pan in place. In these instances, utilization of the slots 
provided on the sides of the seat pan will be necessary.

NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 8.2 on page 56.
NOTE: This procedure applies to 12‐16, 15‐19, and 18‐22 inch deep seat frames.
1.
Review Wider Seat Pans on page 55.

Evaluate the seat pan and determine if it's a narrow seat pan or a wide seat pan.

Remove the 1 
/
 inch mounting screw (Black) and locknut (Black) that secure the seat pan to the crossbrace tube.

Remove the 1 
/
 inch mounting screws and locknuts that secure the seat pan to the front seat pan mounting brackets.

5.
For wider seat pans, remove the mounting screw and locknut on each end of the crossbrace tube.
6.
Remove the seat pan. 
7.
For wider seat pans, also remove the crossbrace tube and rear seat pan mounting brackets.
