Remove the stapler service cover. See

Reseat the stapler left tamper HP sensor cable from the stapler
controller board.

Restart the printer.
Does the problem remain?

Swap the sensor (stapler left tamper HP) and sensor (stapler right
tamper HP).
Does the same error occur?
Step 3

Reseat the cables from the motor (stapler left tamper) and
motor (stapler right tamper).

Reseat the motor cables from the stapler controller board.
Does the problem remain?
Step 4
Swap the motor (stapler left tamper) and motor (stapler right
tamper).
Does the same error occur?
Step 5
Reseat the stapler interface cable from the stapler controller board,
and then restart the printer.
Does the problem remain?
Step 6
Check the interface cable for damage.
Is the interface cable free of damage?
Step 7
Replace the interface cable. See
