1. Reinstall the drive cage into the chassis (see "Install the 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive cage" on page 91).
2. Reinstall all the hot-swap drives and drive bay fillers (if any) into the drive cage (see "Install a hot-swap
drive" on page 104 or "Install a 2.5-inch drive into a 3.5-inch drive bay" on page 111).
3. Reconnect the cables to the backplane.
4. Reinstall the system fan (see "Install the front system fan" on page 115).
5. Complete the parts replacement. See "Complete the parts replacement" on page 217.

Note: This section applies only to server models that have 3.5-inch simple-swap drive backplates installed.

Follow instructions in this section to remove the 3.5-inch simple-swap drive backplate.
About this task
To avoid potential danger, read and follow the following safety statements.

CAUTION:
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off
the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord.
To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from
the power source.
Attention:
• Read the "Installation guidelines" on page 85 to ensure that you work safely.
• Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
"Power off the server" on page 13).
• If the server is in a rack, remove it from the rack.
• Remove any locking device that secures the server cover, such as a Kensington lock or a pad lock.
