Volatile File System

The Volatile File System (VFS)is a temporary storage device for the BayStream
switch. You can use VFS memory when SRAM (static random access memory)
flash memory becomes scarce, expensive, or unavailable.
Note: When running memory intensive applications, the VFS uses the
memory available of the FRE card. If the available memory is less than the
requested memory, BayStream software will not create it.
You can dynamically change the size of the VFS whereas the FLASH/SRAM file
system is restricted by its physical size. When you change the size of the VFS, any
data or files that exist on the VFS are lost. Therefore, you should save important
data or files in non-volatile memory.
You can configure the VFS on a per slot basis and use it in the same manner as the
FLASH/SRAM file system.
