Centre unit
1. Follow the above steps 1–4 for fitting the front units.
2. Add Large Collar (C) onto shaft (B) in between the housing (H)
and clamp collar (E).
3. Loosen Clamp Plate (E), Align Shaft (B) & Insert until Unit is fully
home with no visible spaces. Tighten Clamp (E).
4. The center unit also has the addition of a shaft clamp screw and
washer (J) to be fitted at end of shaft once the unit is attached and
secured in place.
Hydraulic Motor:
1. It is important not to contaminate the motor shaft or internal splines of the cutting unit. If for any reason they
are contaminated, they should be cleaned by degreasing. Liberally apply lubricant to the motor and shaft-
splines before assembling. (Section 8.3)
2. Attach the Cutting Unit hydraulic motors onto the units bearing housing. Secure to studs using the nuts and
washers supplied.

INTERCHANGING BETWEEN FLAIL AND CYLINDER UNITS _______________
The MT503 has option of interchangeable Cutting Units. To convert the machine between either Flail or Cylinder
Cutting Units the following procedure must be followed:
1. Remove existing three cutting units if fitted. Make note of Hydraulic motor orientation on removal for future
reference. Attach required units as per Section 7.4.
2. Refit the Hydraulic Cutting Motors in same orientation that they were removed from previous units. It is impor-
tant to ensure the hydraulic motors are clean before commencing work. This will avoid contaminates entering
the hydraulic system. If required, apply Shell Gadus S2 grease to splines before assembly.
3. It will be necessary to swap the position of the two relief valve cartridges per motor from front to back. This
can be done by unscrewing the valve cartridges (A & B) using an Allen Key (C). It is advisable to mark the car-
tridges for identification prior to removing.
4. Remove cartridges and swap them over It is important that they are kept clean during this process. Refit the
cartridges ensuring O-ring seal is in place and the cartridge is tightened to 35-40Nm.
5. From Settings Menu (6.5), Select and enter the Owner PIN (default 1001) to enter the PIN Menu
(Section 6.5.4). Scroll down to Flail / Cylinder Mode and select using Button 4.
6. Chose required mode using Buttons 2 and 3 to scroll, Button 4 to select. Ensure the correct mode is
selected for the units fitted. The machine is now configured. Check Cutting Unit rotation speeds.
7. To swap back to alternative units, repeat this process.
Residual Hydraulic Oil may be released when adjusting relief valves. Ensure no stored hydraulic pressure is
present in system before work commences. Machine should always be Switched off and ignition key removed
