Application #2: Providing Power to a Class B IO-Link
Device (Reference part # V15S-YEE-V15/V15)
When connecting a Class B IO-Link device, the device will require an actuator supply on pin 2 of the A-
coded cable. Figure 112 shows how to connect the splitter and Class B device to the IO-Link master
module.
Figure 112: Splitter Connection from Class B Power Device to the IOLM
1. Connect the male end of the splitter is connected to the IO-Link port on the OMIOLM001 module.
2. Connect one of the female ends of the splitter to the IO-Link device. (For example, Pepperl+Fuchs
IO-Link hub – Part # ICA-10DI6DO-G60A-IO.)
3. Connect the other female end to the power source either by using:
-
-
Ensure the IP67 integrity is maintained when connecting to the power supply either using an M12
connector or fly-wire.
It is recommended to use the same power source for the OMIOLM001 and for the splitter to avoid
grounding issues.
The digital input (DI) LED on the corresponding port to which the splitter is connected will be ON
to indicate the AUX power is fed to the Class B IO-Link device/hub.
Note: Using the splitter to power the class-B IO-Link device/hub will eliminate the option of
connecting an auxiliary input to the IO-Link master port. In other words, Applications #1 and #2 are
discrete and cannot be mixed.
