output is connected to the line input of an existing mixer and then output from the
loudspeakers. The volume and sound quality are adjusted by the gain control and
equalizer within the MAS-A100 units, so do not adjust when mixing the two signals.
If connecting to the microphone input of a speech reinforcement system, the system
may not function normally due to non-linear processing of devices, such as a feedback
canceler, automixer, noise gate, etc.
Design the audio system so that volume adjustment by the mixer and volume
adjustment of the audio system for speech reinforcement (channel volume, master
volume) for the audio signal from the MAS-A100 is not possible during normal
operation. To make volume adjustments during normal operation, use the MASM-1,
the web interface of each MAS-A100 unit, or the external control API.
The Rec outputs are converted to analog by D/A conversion by the second
ADP-DAO-AU-0x2, and then input to a mixer for volume and audio quality
adjustments before input to the microphone input of the communications device.
With this configuration, the audio of existing microphones cannot be sent to the
communications device. The use of the output (MAS-A100 Main output) from the
speech reinforcement audio mixer is not recommended. To send the sound of an
existing microphone to a communication device, mix the Rec output of the MAS-A100
and the post-fader output of the existing microphone on a bus separate from the
speech reinforcement system and use the audio output from the mixer. If Main and
Rec are both input to the same mixer, use a mixer with input crosstalk between the
Main output and Rec output of –80 dB or less. Crosstalk may be large if you use an
inexpensive stereo mixer for L/R separation between the Main output and Rec output.
If there is mixing of the Main output and Rec output due to crosstalk, they system may
not calibrate properly and will cause unexpected feedback.
In this connection method, there are many additional devices and adjustment points
that should not be operated, and stable operation may not be possible due to incorrect
operation or settings. Even if you have existing equipment, it is recommended that
you design a system using a Dante-compatible DSP as described in the next section.
