Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001
OIL DECK FILLER PLATE
(ABB-PLATE-DE-CK) Straight Neck
(ABB-PLATE-45-00) 45° Filler Neck
1. Locate the place where you wish to install the
filler cap assembly. Make sure the hose has a
clear path between the filler cap assembly
and the oil tank.
N O T E :
It is recommended that the oil tank be
positioned aft of the filler cap assembly.
Do not mount on a level surface. Mount on a
sloped surface so any water will drain away from
the filler.
2. Cut a 2" hole for the filler cap assembly.
3. Position the filler cap assembly in the hole,
and mark the three screw holes for drilling.
N O T E :
Position the open area of the "splint
flange" to the overboard side of the vessel.
4. Drill the screw holes.
5. Install the filler cap assembly. Use sealant.
N O T E :
Make sure the vent hole is not blocked by
sealant or other material from the boat deck.
6. Remove the original Yamaha Oil Tank Cap,
and install the reducer fitting in its place. Be
sure the fitting is tight on the oil tank to pre-
vent leakage.
7. Use oil-resistant, 1-1/2" I.D. hose between
the filler cap assembly and the oil tank fitting.
a. Be sure the 1/16" in. vent hole in the filler
cap neck is not obstructed when hose is
attached.
b. Be sure the nozzle stop (inside the neck of
the filler cap) does not cover vent hole.
8. After cutting the hose to the proper length,
install two hose clamps on each end of the
hose and fit the ends to the filler cap assem-
bly and the oil tank fitting. Make sure the
hose is pushed all the way onto the cap
assembly and fitting, and tighten the clamps
thoroughly.
