Battery Cable Installation
The battery cables are not mounted on the engine,
but are in a separate box in the crate. This allows
for the battery cable to be rigged to the boat along
with the other rigging leads. It is then attached to
the engine when it is installed on the boat. Install
the cables as follows:
1. Position the battery cable in the boat so the
location tape is where the engine rigging
grommet will be located.
NOTE: Do not connect the battery cable to the
battery until all rigging is complete.
2. After installation of the engine to the boat,
route the battery cables through the engine
rigging grommet, which is on the starboard
side of the lower pan. Locate the battery
cable in the proper position in the engine rig-
ging grommet.
3. Run the battery cable to the starter motor. The
negative battery cable will be connected to
the post on the starter housing (up top and to
the rear). The positive battery cable end will
be connected to the terminal block that is
secure to the upper rear starter motor bolt.
Right below the starter motor mounting bolt
is the terminal block.
4. Secure both cables to their appropriate termi-
nals. Coat both posts with anti-corrosion
grease/spray. Place rubber caps over both ter-
minals.
5. Next, secure the battery cable to the fuse box.
There are 2 wire clamps located on the cover
to secure the battery cable in place.
