STANDARD ABBREVIATIONS AND SYMBOLS
Color Codes
The following color code chart would help you with the standard abbreviations. Listed is the Yamaha
color codes and their purpose. Also included is the ABYC color code. Which is common to boat wiring
systems.

B or BLK= Black
R or RED = Red
Y= Yellow
L or BLU= Blue
G or GRN= Green
O or ORG= Orange
P or Pnk = Pink
W or WHT = White
Br = Brown
Gr = Gray
Sb = Sky Blue
Lg = Light Green
Y/R = Yellow/Red
Pu = Purple
B/Y = Black/Yellow
B/R = Black/Red
B/W = Black/White
G/L = Green/Blue
ABYC COLOR
ABBREVIATION YAMAHA USE
B or BLK = Black Ground
R or Red = Red Battery positive,
SW3 Oil warning red light V4
Y= Yellow Ignition ON 12v
4-Stroke lighting coil
Bl = Dark Blue Instrument lights choke
choke circuit,
Ground potential oil transfer
High speed charge coil
G or GRN= Green Tachometer signal
Lighting coil lead
Knock sensor
O or ORG= Orange Trim position sender
P or Pk = Pink Oil & overheat signal ground,
Trim signal
W or WHT = White Ignition stop circuit
SW1 oil transfer off position V4
Br = Brown Start circuit,
