DX-80 Installation & Maintenance
4. TROUBLESHOOTING INSTALLATION ISSUES
This chapter outlines the most common installation problems for the DX-80, and provides a
corrective action addressing each issue.

4.1 Corrupted Database on Initial System Setup

SOLUTION: DX-80 Power-Up Initialization
You must successfully initialize the DX-80 system during start up procedures for the system to operate
properly. The installation of the DX-80 is complete only when you perform this critical
initialization/cold start operation.
You must also initialize/cold start the DX-80 system after adding any new hardware in KSU1 or
KSU2. If you are adding new hardware, go to Section 4.2, Adding Hardware to an Existing System
(Making Sure the DX 80 Recognizes It).
When you initialize the DX-80, the system establishes and organizes an operational customer
database—the system uses this database organization for future system updates. When the system
completes the initialization process, it loads the default database contents into memory; the system is
then ready to run with this database configuration. You can later make custom changes to the database
using appropriate program settings for the various features.
To initialize the DX-80, perform the steps in Section 2.18, Power-up Initialization (Cold Start). Note:
If you have previously entered programming information into the DX-80 database, perform the pro-
cedure in Section 4.2, Adding Hardware to an Existing System (Making Sure the DX 80 Recognizes It).
