Connecting the Message Networking server to the LAN

This topic provides information on connecting the Message Networking servers to the customer's LAN.
Note: Typically, you perform this task during system installation, in which case the system will not yet be
running. If you need to perform this task after initial system installation, make sure that you first
system.
Connecting the S3210 and S3210R servers to the LAN
To connect an S3210 or S3210R server to the corporate LAN:
1. Connect one end of the standard Ethernet cable to the RJ45 connector on the back of the server.

2. The other end of this cable should be connected to an Ethernet interface on the corporate LAN.
The entity that is responsible for maintaining the corporate LAN should make this connection (see the
customer contract or the statement of work).

Connecting an S3400-H to the LAN
To connect an S3400-H to the corporate LAN:
1. Connect one end of the standard Ethernet cable to the appropriate RJ45 connector on the back of the
server:
Integrated video and LAN: Use the NIC1 (1 Ggit) connector next to the video connector.

Nonintegrated video and LAN: Use the RJ45 jack on the NIC.

2. The other end of this cable must be connected to an Ethernet interface on the corporate LAN.
The organization that is responsible for maintaining the corporate LAN should make this connection (see
