Unpacking the system

This topic lists the required and optional hardware and software needed to successfully install and maintain a
Message Networking system.
Required and optional hardware and software
The following table lists the required and optional hardware needed to set up a Message Networking system.
Verify that all of the hardware components needed for this installation are on site.

Server AC power cables (one per power
supply per server)
Rack-mount assembly (rails, handles,
brackets, and connecting hardware) if you
are installing an S3400-H or S3210R in a
rack-mount setup, or
Rubber spacers for stackable desktop
configuration (S3400-H or S3210R only)
Ethernet LAN cable
COM2 port adapter to RMB cable (for the
S3400-H)
External modem adapter for RMB with long
cable (for the S3400-H)
One maintenance modem and required
cables (for S3210 and S3210R)
CD/DVD backup media
Port board cables
Monitor (includes power cord and VGA
cable)
Keyboard and mouse
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with
required power cord
For the S3400-H and S3210R, this should
also include 1 set of rack-mount brackets or
rubber spacers for a stackable setup.
