When used in conjunction with a personal computer, the facsimile machine enables you to activate

one of the functions mentioned above and send/receive documents in the memory at the same

time.

For more detailed information on the features of the connection and how it is used, consult the

documentation of the software to be installed on the PC.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST OF FACSIMILE MACHINE

The facsimile machine can be subjected to a diagnostic test from a remote location. The feature

is enabled by means of the set-up parameter "REMOTE DIAG."

Using a special software program and by making a call by polling, the remote machine can:

install the facsimile machine

the remote station requests display of the facsimile machine's installation parameters. The

operator can change the parameter settings and update them on the facsimile machine, thus

installing it from a distance

make a diagnosis

the remote station asks the facsimile machine for information on its set-up parameters, the

last activity report printed and transaction statistics (status of connections, type of errors

detected, number of pages sent and received, etc.). By analysing this data, the remote

operator can change some settings to make the facsimile machine work to its full potential.

Installing the facsimile machine does not, of course, stop you using the telephone for normal

conversations. To make a telephone call, all you have to do is dial the relevant telephone number

(if you hear no dial tone, press the TALK key) and when you hear the correspondent answer

through the facsimile machine's built-in speaker, lift the handset and talk in the ordinary way.

If the user who was called using the method described above, is connected to a facsimile line, you

can send him or her a document. The transmission procedure can be carried out in one of two ways:

From the telephone

Insert the document in the ADF, dial the correspondent's facsimile number and ask him to

press the start key on his facsimile machine. When you hear the tone emitted by the remote

machine, press START on your machine and HANG UP. Transmission is activated. The

display shows the status of the connection and the number of the page being sent and the

transmission speed.
