    BEFORE USE BEFORE USE This manual is an essential guide for those wishing to learn how to use this facsimile machine. The “GETTING TO KNOW THE FAX” chapter provides an overview of the product. The drawings which are easy-to-understand and cover all aspects will help you to quickly become familiar with the product and get the most out of your fax in no time.

    INTRODUCTION HOW TO PREPARE THE FAX MACHINE FOR USE Place the facsimile unit on a stable surface. Leave enough space for a sufficient air flow and so that the document out tray can be positioned correctly so as to avoid paper piling up and jamming. Do not expose to direct sunlight and avoid damp, dusty rooms and environments subject to rapid changes in temperature and humidity.

    GETTING TO KNOW THE FACSIMILE MACHINE CONSOLE The operator console has an alphanumeric liquid crystal display, keys and LEDs that indicate the operating modes and provide a user-friendly interface with the machine. A brief description of the keys and LEDs is provided below. How each of them is used will be explained during the relevant operating procedures.

    PROGRAMMING CLOSED NETWORK FEATURE The closed network feature enables you to restrict the number of correspondents to whom the facsimile machine can communicate. It is designed for transmission applications in a multiuser environment to prevent an indiscriminate and wasteful use of the facsimile machine. In reception, it prevents the paper and ink from being wasted on undesired reception of advertisements, etc.

    TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION This chapter describes the various methods of transmission available for you to choose according to your needs. The two main methods are transmission from the ADF and transmission from memory. The facsimile machine also enables you to send a document at a preset time, send a document - by using the memory - to several different users immediately or at a preset time and to send reserved documents.

    TRANSMISSION DELAYED TRANSMISSION The facsimile machine can automatically transmit at a preset time. This overcomes problems created by time zones when the correspondent is based, for example, on a different continent, and enables you to transmit at cheaper times and when the lines are less busy. To transmit a document in this way, you must leave the document (having prepared it and set the time at which it is to be sent) in the automatic document feeder (ADF), until it is sent, or store it using the automatic storage feature.

    TRANSMISSION RESERVED TRANSMISSION When documents are reserved you can adopt a special procedure which assigns a password consisting of four alphanumeric characters to each document to be sent. Instead of being printed immediately by the receiving machine, the document will be stored in a specific location in the memory (private mailbox). It can be printed once the password has been entered.

The document is stored (about 10 pages of A4 format with normal resolution) and then sent, immediately or at a preset time, to each destination in the order programmed.
