Chapter 4 Operation
58
If an abnormal endoscopic image/function occurs but quickly
corrects itself, the endoscope has malfunctioned. In this
case, stop using the endoscope because the irregulality can
occur again and the endoscope may not return to its normal
condition. Therefore, stop the examination immediately and
slowly withdraw the endoscope while viewing the endoscopic
image. Otherwise, patient injury can result.
Always lubricate the balloon before insertion. Otherwise, the
balloon could rupture or come off. This could result in patient
injury.
Never force the insertion section if resistance is encountered.
Patient injury, perforation, and/or equipment damage may
occur.
When using this instrument, never block the trachea with the
balloon. This could result in suffocation.
Deflate the balloon before withdrawing the endoscope from
the patient. Withdrawing the endoscope while the balloon is
inflated could result in patient injury.
Before disconnecting the ultrasonic cable (MAJ-1597,
MAJ-1722) from the endoscope, turn the diagnostic
ultrasound system or compact endoscopic ultrasound center
OFF.
