Chapter 3 Preparation and Inspection
Inspection of the biopsy valve (MD-495)
32
The biopsy valve (MD-495) is consumable and it should be
inspected before each use. Replace the biopsy valve with a
new one if irregularities and/or excessive wear are detected.
A damaged or deformed biopsy valve (MD-495) can reduce
the efficacy of the endoscope's suction system and may
cause patient debris to leak or spray from the endoscope,
posing an infection-control risk.
Do not use the biopsy valve (MD-495) with the single use
aspiration needle (NA-201SX-4022). Please use the single
use adapter biopsy valve (MAJ-1414) and refer to the
instruction manual for the single use aspiration needle
(NA-201SX-4022).
This biopsy valve (MD-495) is designed for use with
BF-30/40/60/200/240/260/160 and 180 series endoscopes.
1.
Confirm that the biopsy valve is free from cracks, tears, deformation, or
other irregularities.
2.
Attach the cap to the main body (see Figure 3.8).
