11.2 Detailed Installation

The recommended components for an installation protected for nearby strikes are:

Recommended cables as described in Section 3.3.5 "Cables and connectors".
•
Lightning protection: Motorola PTP-LPU - 2 per link (2 Motorola Kits, part number 2978)
•
Grounding Stake
•
RJ45 screened connectors
NOTE: There may be a local regulatory requirement to cross bond the CAT 5e cable at
regular intervals to the mast. This may be as frequent as every 10 meters (33 feet).
Figure 94 includes illustrations showing the placement of the PTP lightning protection units
and the recommended components for typical Mast/Tower or Wall installations.
