In addition, it is possible to use the BNC connector on the PTP 500 Series ODU and a DVM
to help with the alignment process. The BNC connector provides an analogue voltage which
is proportional to the receive signal strength. To use remove the protective cap frome the
case mounted BNC connector and connect a DVM.Yo may have to invert the pole for correct
reading. Figure 24 shows the relationship between measured values and the receive signal
strength.
When the alignment process is complete the installer MUST REMEMBER TO DISARM
BOTH UNITS in the link as described in Section 8.3.4 "Install Pages". This is necessary in
order to:
Turn off the audible alignment aid (section 8.3.4.4 "Disarm")
Enable Adaptive Modulation
Fully enable Advanced Spectrum Management with i-DFS
Clear unwanted installation information from the various systems statistics
Store the link range for fast link acquisition on link drop
Enable higher data rates

After 24 hours, the units will be disarmed automatically provided that they are armed and that the link is UP.
