9.2 Resetting the SpeedTouch™610 via the CLI

Reset options via the CLI are far more flexible than the reset available on the web
pages. You can:
Flush an individual CLI command group configuration. Note that this implies a
null-config state for that CLI command group after the flush!
See the "SpeedTouch™610
Globally reset with or without preservation of the IP configuration.
Use the reset methods provided by the CLI, even if no IP configuration exists
anymore or is lost, as access is always possible via the SpeedTouch™610's serial
Console port, providing the SpeedTouch™610 system password configuration is
known.
All reset scenarios have immediate and irreversible effect!
Note
To be able to use the method described below you must:
Have access to the SpeedTouch™610 CLI (via Telnet or serial Console port)
If required, know the user name and system password.
The most convenient way to reset the SpeedTouch™610 to its default configuration via
the CLI is with the :system reset command:
=>system reset

The modem will be reset to (factory) defaults clearing all user (and
ISP) settings.
Specifying <factory=yes> deletes user and ISP specific settings.
<factory=no>
factory yes/no = yes
proceed no/yes = yes
To completely reset the SpeedTouch™610 to its default configuration, including
defaulting any ISP specific default configuration settings, you must answer yes at the
factory yes/no = prompt. To return the SpeedTouch™610 to the default configuration
as specified by the Service Provider or network administrator (if applicable) answer no
at the factory yes/no = prompt.
Prior to reset its configuration to defaults, the SpeedTouch™610 will ask for configura-
tion at the proceed no/yes = prompt. If you are sure to reset the SpeedTouch™610,
answer yes.
As a result the SpeedTouch™610 will restart with its default configuration.
