    2 The SpeedTouch™610 System Password 2 The SpeedTouch™610 System Password Why securing the The SpeedTouch™610 is an important part of your local network. In a most likely SpeedTouch™610 with scenario, the SpeedTouch™610 may act, not only as the LAN’s DSL gateway, but also as a system password the LAN’s DHCP server, DNS server, SIP multimedia PBX, IP router and secure VPN gateway.

The encryption is irreversible, which means that there is no method to retrieve the clear-text system password from the encrypted value.

You can apply for a software activation key for a particular SpeedTouch™610 software module at your network administrator, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or the reseller or distributor of your SpeedTouch™610 device.

    8 SpeedTouch™610 FTP Access 8 SpeedTouch™610 FTP Access Introduction The SpeedTouch™610 permanent storage exists of nonvolatile memory responsible for storing, retrieving and maintaining the SpeedTouch™610 system software files, configu- ration profile files, language-pack files, software activation keys, secure storage files, etc. The permanent storage of the SpeedTouch™610 is accessible via the well known File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

The root directory is secured and contains two subdirectories ‘/active’ and ‘/dl’. The ‘/active’ subdirectory contains the system software in execution. Other files may be present to ensure the good operation of the device, or due to previous system software upgrades.

    9 Resetting the SpeedTouch™610 9 Resetting the SpeedTouch™610 Introduction Due to the flexible nature of the SpeedTouch™610 and its configuration, you may end up in a situation where restoring the defaults is the only possible solution. Or, you might decide to start a re-configuration of the SpeedTouch™610 with a clean slate to avoid surplus configurations that may cause redundancy and ambiguity or even have a negative influence on the SpeedTouch™610 services to your network.
