GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Drive axles on the vehicle are completely flexible
assemblies and consist of an axle shaft and an inner
and outer constant velocity joint. (figure 1) . The in
ner constant velocity joint (spider type) has complete
flexibility plus inward and outward movement. The
outer constant velocity joint (cage type) has complete
flexibility only .
CAUTION : Whenever any operations call for
disconnecting, removal or installation ofthe
drive axles, care must be exercised to pre-
vent damage to constant velocityjoint seals.
Seals may be wrapped with floor mat rubber
or old innertube, etc. Make sure any rubber
protective covers that are used are removed
before vehicle is started or driven .

DRIVE AXLE ASSEMBLY (RIGHT
HAND)
REMOVAL
1 . Hoist vehicle under lower control arms.
2. Remove drive axle cotter pin, nut and washer .
(figure 2)
3. Remove inner C.V . joint attaching bolts. (fig-
ure 3)
4. Push inner C.V . joint outward enough to
disengage from R.H . final drive output shaft and
move rearward .
