9.5 Installing a Hard Disk Drive
Before you install a hard disk drive in your system unit, you need to make sure
its SCSI ID is correct. (See Section 6.3 for general information about SCSI
IDs.) The next section gives you instructions for setting the SCSI IDs of the
three most commonly used internal hard disk drives.
9.5.1 To Set SCSI IDs for the RZ23L, RZ24, and RZ25
The internal hard disk drive is usually set to SCSI ID 2. To set the SCSI ID of
the three drives described here, you use a row of small pins and jumper blocks.
You set the ID by moving the jumpers to different positions on the pins.
Each SCSI device attached to a given connector must have a unique
ID. If two or more devices have the same ID, your workstation won't
recognize one or the other of those drives.
