This chapter tells you how to disassemble your workstation and pack it for
moving.
4.1 Dismantling Your Workstation
1. If the workstation software is running, type shutdown -h now and press
Return.
2. Turn off any devices connected to your workstation, such as printers,
modems, or external hard disks.
3. Turn off the system unit by pressing the 0 on the on/off switch on the back
of the system unit.
4. If necessary, turn off the monitor.

If the monitor gets its power through the system unit, it will go off
when you turn off the system unit.
•
If the monitor is plugged into a wall outlet, press the 0 on its on/off
switch to turn it off.
5. Unplug all power cords from their power sources.
6. Disconnect all external devices, including the monitor and the keyboard,
from the system unit. If two or more disk drives or other devices are
chained together, disconnect them from each other.
7. If the SCSI connector on the back of the system unit contains a terminator,
remove the terminator.
8. Disconnect the mouse from the keyboard.
9. If you're on a network, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the system unit.
Otherwise, remove the loopback connector.
