Hot-Swap System Fans

The following procedures describe the removal and replacement of the hot-swap system fans. Before
performing the following procedures, read the "Safety Notices" on page xi.
This system supports hot-swap and redundant cooling. The system electronics are cooled with three
system cooling fans.
Note: Each fan unit has two LEDs on the top cover. The green LED indicates the fan is operating
properly. The amber LED indicates a fan failure.
Attention:
The Linux operating system does not support these hot-pluggable procedures. A system with
Linux installed must be shut down and powered off before removing or replacing a fan.
