Managing Images and Files (CLI)

This section provides information about the commands you use to upload,
download, and copy files to and from the PowerConnect 8000/8100-series
switch. For more information about these commands, see the
8024/8024F/8132/8132F/8164/8164F CLI Reference Guide
support.dell.com/manuals. It also describes the commands that control the
Auto Configuration feature.
NOTE:
Upload, download, and copy functions use the copy command. The basic
syntax for the command is copy
different ways to use the copy command.

Downloading and Activating a New Image (TFTP)

Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
download a new firmware image to the switch and to make it the active
image. This example shows how to use TFTP to download the image.

Purpose

Use TFTP to download the firmware image at the
file-
/
specified source to the non-active image.
If the image file is in the TFTP file system root (download
path), you do not need to specify the path in the
command.
On 8100-series switches, use the following command:
copy tftp://{
| backup}
View information about the currently active image.
Add a description to the image files.
On 8100-series switches, use the following command:
filedescr {active | backup}
source destination
