Performing a Hard Reset

To perform a hard reset:
Caution:
your unit are erased. Never perform a hard reset unless a soft
reset does not solve your problem. You can restore any data
previously stored on a memory card during a Backup
operation, or stored to your desktop computer via a previous
HotSync operation.
Remove the stylus from your unit.

Hold down the power button on the front panel of your unit.

While holding down the power button, gently press and release

the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your unit
using the plastic stylus. Refer to Figure 7-2.
Wait for the Palm logo to appear and release the power button.

When a message appears warning that you are about to

erase all the data stored on your unit, press the Up Scroll
button on the front panel of the unit to complete the hard
reset and display the Digitizer screen.
You can cancel the hard reset and perform a soft reset

To restore your data after a hard reset:

If you used the Backup application to save your data, perform the
following steps:
Tap the Backup icon.

Select the Backup Set to restore.

Tap the Restore button. A dialog box warns you that RAM is

about to be overwritten. Tap OK to continue. After restoring the
data, the unit will reset.
