Microprocessor removal and replacement
Complete the following steps to remove a microprocessor:
1. Review the "Safety information" on page 95 and "Installation guidelines" on
2. Turn off the server and all attached devices, see"Turning off the server" on
3. Disconnect all external cables and power cords.
4. Remove the cover (see "Cover removal and replacement" on page 49).
5. Determine the microprocessor you want to replace.
6. Remove the power pod that is associated with the microprocessor you want to

8. Use a 2.5 mm hex driver to rotate the microprocessor release mechanism 90

Note: After the microprocessor is removed and if you are not installing another
microprocessor, use a 2.5 mm hex driver to rotate the release
