Chapter 4 Configuration Settings for RAID Groups or Thin Provisioning
4.4 When Using Thin Provisioning Volumes (TPVs)

•
Alarm
•
When using SSDs, the SSD types (SSD-M/SSD) cannot be specified. SSDs that are the same type
and have the necessary capacity in a RAID group to create TPPs are selected. If the number of SSDs
with the same type is insufficient for configuring a RAID group, a TPP is not created. In this case,
reduce the total capacity of the Thin Provisioning Pool.
•
When SSD-Ms with an interface speed of 12Gbit/s are installed in a high-density drive enclosure,
the SSDs operate at 6Gbit/s because the interface speed of the high-density drive enclosure is
6Gbit/s. When 12Gbit/s SSD-Ms are installed in the high-density drive enclosure, select the drives
manually. If drives are automatically selected from SSDs that are from the high-density drive
enclosures, or from both the high-density drive enclosures and other drive enclosures, all SSDs
operate at 6Gbit/s.
•
Specify the threshold so that "Warning" is the same or larger than "Attention".
•
The "Attention" threshold can be omitted. When setting the "Attention" threshold, specify a
threshold while the checkbox is selected.

Click the [Create] button
A confirmation screen appears.
4
Click the [OK] button.
Create Thin Provisioning Pool starts.
5
Click the [Done] button to return to the [Thin Provisioning Pool] screen.
■
Manually selecting drives to create Thin Provisioning Pool
To create a new TPP manually, select Drive Type, RAID Level, and the drive that configures the TPP.
The number of member drives in each RAID group
The number of member drives for each RAID level is listed in the following table.
RAID level
High Performance (RAID1+0)
High Capacity (RAID5)
High Reliability (RAID6)
Mirroring (RAID1)
Striping (RAID0)
Number of member drives
4, 8, 16, 24
