The unit fails to respond to the controls

The Main Display turns on briefly when a control is operated, then turns off

The Left and Right channels are swapped

One audio output channel is low or absent

The sound has a peculiar tonal balance

Crackles or pops occur while playing music

Check that the
STBY
button to return to normal operation. Alternatively, switch off, wait 10
seconds and switch on – Standby mode will be cancelled.
While locking to a source or changing some settings (e.g. Filter), the
microcontroller inside Elgar Plus is busy and will not respond to new
commands for a few seconds.
If the Mute fade-out rate is set to Mute-Slw, the unit may be unresponsive
for a few seconds while slow muting is in progress (see page 22)
Short mains supply drop-outs may cause the microcontroller to lock up.
Switch off the unit, wait 10 seconds then switch on again. If this does not
clear the fault, please contact your dealer.
This happens when the

The digital audio cable connecting Elgar Plus to the source may be
damaged, intermittent or of the wrong type. Some expensive cables are not
correctly designed for digital audio use. Try another cable.
The CD may be dirty - clean it very carefully using a radial motion.
The disk / tape may be damaged or contain corrupted data.
The audio output level may be enough to overload a preamplifier or power
amplifier.
